Arash Ahmadi

Arash Ahmadi (b. 1995, Tehran) is an Iranian painter whose practice investigates the relationship between image, structure, colour, and visual theory. Originally trained in mechanical engineering, he began studying art history and philosophy in 2018, developing a particular interest in Russian Constructivism and twentieth-century theories of form and content. His paintings often emerge through carefully constructed geometric structures, calculated proportions, masking, repetition, and controlled colour relationships. Influences ranging from David Hockney and Richard Hamilton to Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke, and Damien Hirst can be traced within his visual research. Through his ongoing Image as an Image project, Ahmadi examines how an image can function as an autonomous visual object, independent of conventional narrative or representation.
