Fatemeh Motallebi (b. 1995) is a visual artist, painter, and calligrapher. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Art. Her practice explores the relationship between surface, texture, and three-dimensional form through an ongoing engagement with materials. Working primarily with papier-mâché, Motallebi uses the malleability of paper to extend painting beyond the flat surface, creating tactile landscapes that bring together pictorial space and physical volume. Drawing on her training in painting and calligraphy, she combines a sensitivity to line and composition with an experimental approach to texture and material. Her work invites close observation of the ways an image takes shape through its physical substance.
