Karim Nasr (b. 1952, Rasht) is an Iranian painter, illustrator, designer, and sculptor whose practice spans more than four decades. His work moves between figuration and abstraction, exploring relationships between people, objects, architecture, landscape, and their surrounding environments. Nasr’s background in architecture is reflected in his strong sense of structure, spatial organization, proportion, and volume, while his experience in illustration contributes to the narrative and symbolic qualities of his images. He began his career with a significant involvement in children’s book illustration before expanding his practice into painting and sculpture. Alongside his studio work, Nasr has played an influential role in Iranian visual culture as an educator, writer, researcher, and juror in major national painting and illustration biennials.
