ELEMENTS presents a body of sculptures and drawings by Dimitri Tsykalov centered on war, violence, material transformation, and cultural memory. The exhibition uses discarded ammunition crates as its primary material, cutting, dismantling, and reconstructing them into complex sculptural forms. Works such as Temple, Adam and Eve, and Memento Mori connect the physical materials of warfare with references to European art history, religious imagery, and still-life traditions. Through this transformation, Tsykalov turns objects associated with destruction into intricate works of art, examining the relationship between culture and conflict, creation and violence, and the ways materials carry historical and political meaning.
