Sculptures 1952–2002

Hans Josephsohn — Sculptures 1952—2002 brings together works spanning fifty years of the Swiss sculptor’s practice. The exhibition traces Josephsohn’s evolving relationship with the human figure, from slender standing and reclining sculptures of the 1950s to the increasingly massive and abstract half-figures of his later career. A selection of intimate reliefs reveals another important dimension of his practice, often connected to personal relationships, memory, and daily experience. Working primarily in plaster before casting selected works in brass, Josephsohn repeatedly added, removed, and reshaped material, leaving visible traces of his hands and creating surfaces that emphasize weight, physical presence, and the human body.
