Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
7 March – 9 June 2025
Van Gogh Museum · Amsterdam, Netherlands
Sag mir wo die Blumen sind was a major two-part exhibition of Anselm Kiefer presented jointly by the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The exhibition explored Kiefer’s long-standing connection to Vincent van Gogh and brought together new works, early drawings, major paintings, and key works from the Stedelijk collection. At the Van Gogh Museum, Kiefer’s works were shown alongside paintings by Van Gogh, highlighting shared interests in landscape, flowers, mortality, and the emotional power of nature. At the Stedelijk, the exhibition focused on Kiefer’s historical relationship with the museum and included the monumental title installation. Together, the two venues traced the development of Kiefer’s practice across several decades.
