The Other Way

The Other Way presents a new series of paintings by Dean Monogenis exploring landscape, architecture, travel, and the human desire to encounter untouched nature. Monumental mountains, lakes, winding paths, tents, and isolated architectural structures appear within carefully constructed scenes that move between realism and imagined space. Geometric forms and artificial colour interrupt otherwise familiar landscapes, creating a tension between natural environments and human intervention. Drawing on cinema, literature, modernist architecture, and traditions of Romantic landscape painting, Monogenis examines ecological uncertainty, spiritual longing, adventure, and the fragile idea of an ideal landscape in the contemporary world.
