Intertwined Forms | When Images Pass Through Each Other | Alireza Jahromi

This film follows the artistic journey of Alireza, tracing the formation of his painting series UNFINISHED FANTASIES and the ideas that shape his visual language. Through layered, transparent images, Alireza explores the notion of nudity as concealment, sound as form, and painting as something that behaves like a spirit—passing through itself, overlapping, and transforming. Influenced by opera, classical music, and art history, his works evolve through erasure, accumulation, and repetition, where multiple images merge to create new identities. The film also reflects on censorship, red lines, and the experience of making art in Iran versus working freely after migration. From horses and opera-inspired portraits to miniature painting and contemporary techniques, all his series are connected by a shared sensibility: transparency, passage, and the coexistence of presence and absence. This is not a portrait of finished answers, but of a process—where sensation precedes explanation, and meaning emerges through form.
