Jean-François Fourtou – Hybridus | RX&SLAG Gallery, Paris

The exhibition Hybridus by Jean-François Fourtou was on view at RX&SLAG Gallery in Paris from 15 March to 26 April 2025. This solo presentation features the artist’s signature hybrid figures — beings that are both human and plant, standing in luminous white environments and attired in formal, historical garb. Fourtou’s work bridges nature, memory and identity through a distinctive visual lexicon. Born in 1964, Jean-François Fourtou lives and works between Paris and Marrakesh. His artistic practice spans sculpture, installation and environmental art, often revisiting childhood memories and domestic spaces imbued with botanical life. In Hybridus, the artist re-imagines nature as an extension of the human condition: plant-headed figures and formal silhouettes replace the expected to highlight themes of transformation, lineage and reinvention.
